Here at Lev, diversity is important, and so are our affinity groups! Affinity groups are the organizations within the business which support and advocate for diverse members of our team. As we approach the end of 2021, the time has come to reflect on the past year. Here, presented in no particular order, are five of the best things about Lev Pride!
5. We tell you where we stand
It can be nerve wracking to start a new job, move to a new role, or even just find your place on a new team. When you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community, there’s the added dynamic of not knowing whether it’s safe to bring your full self to that new space. Simply by nature of existing, Lev Pride sends a signal that ours is a safe space for everyone, and that you are encouraged to bring your full self to all interactions.
4. We educate our team
Ok, I’m a nerd, and putting education in my top 5 probably makes that clear. But Lev Pride had the opportunity earlier this year to host an educational program for our team discussing the experience of being gender diverse in the workplace and in life. It was exciting to see my colleagues get a window into my experiences, and I’m so excited to see what cool new educational programs we’re going to host in 2022!
3. We give back to the community
For Pride Month this year, in addition to a bunch of social programming, Lev Pride raised money for the Trevor Project, “the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.” In 2022, we are planning more great opportunities to give back to our community, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ youth.
2. We have fun
When Lev Pride first started, I didn’t know what it was going to look like, but one of thing that really surprised me was how much fun we have! In my humble opinion, we host the best Happy Hours. The entertainment and drag stylings of Pat Yo Weave, and the incredible participation across the entire Lev community has made every one a truly memorable experience!
1. We build community
Finding community is important for us all, and it can be truly critical for LGBTQ+ people. Lev Pride has had some really cool opportunities to promote community within our organization. In addition to hosting educational programs, fundraising for youth organizations, and just having lots of fun -- one of my favorite activities this year was our group hosting Book Club! I can’t wait to see how our community will evolve in 2022. I hope you’ll join us!
